Fabio Maccione is Head of Public Affairs & External Relations Italy for Doctolib, the European market leader in digital healthcare services, where the daily job is to challenge the status quo. Previously, after a year spent working for a Shanghai-based business centre focused on EU-China relations, from 2015 to 2021 Fabio worked at national and European level for Flix (FlixBus and FlixTrain), a digital fast-growing scale-up that turned into a global player in the transport sector, where he launched the Public Affairs team in Italy and created and led the EU Public Policy office in Brussels facing tough regulatory challenges.
Coming from a political background and from activism, before joining the private sector, he spent years working in politics and with institutions, for example as assistant for the President of one of the largest political groups at the European Parliament and assistant for the first vice President of the Parliament, as policy advisor for a foundation chaired by a former Italian Prime Minister and as activities coordinator for a political think tank.
